Bo-Kaap

Situated at the foothill of Signal Hill, Bo-Kaap was built and leased to slaves. The houses resembles a mix of Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture in distinctive multi-coloured rows. The bright colour paint was an expression of freedom by slaves who became home-owners after the abolishment of slavery.
